GREENTRACE Meeting in Valencia

Monday, 23 October 2023, second meeting of the GREENTRACE project hosted by UCV, Spain

The second transnational partner meeting of the GREENTRACE project took place in beautiful and welcoming Valencia, hosted by UCV – Universidad Católica de Valencia.

During these months of work, we delved into the concept of sustainability and studied existing good practices in outdoor sports. We wanted to understand how best to use the educational potential of outdoor sport to achieve our goal of inspiring young people to think about the environment and connect with nature.

From the theoretical study of the concept of sustainability, four dimensions emerged that are essential for the final educational methodology of the project.

  • The psychological dimension, in order to study the variables that influence pro-environmental behaviour
  • The environmental dimension, to raise awareness of the various environmental issues that affect our daily lives
  • The sports dimension, as outdoor and nature-based sports contribute to more sustainable behaviour and subjective well-being
  • The youth dimension, involving young people in recreational activities aimed at raising environmental awareness

This meeting marked the end of the study phase and we can now move forward with the development of the training programme for youth workers to promote environmental awareness among young people through outdoor sport.

We will soon publish the Sustainability Report together with the Interactive Handbook for youth workers.

Don’t miss the next steps in the GREENTRACE project!
